AUGUST 1 -- THE PRAIRIE SCHOOLER 2006 Santa is a sewing Santa busily making a Christmas stocking--their 23rd yearly Santa. Prairie Schooler also introduced the following charts Autumn Leaves, Winter Wind, Christmas Day and Good Saint Nick. Included with the charts are ornament designs that are placed on wool for a quick finish. All sampler designs are great for converting to your favorite hand dyed threads for an antiqued look!
JULY 21 -- We're doing a SILENT AUCTION of a model we had in the shop--Lizzie Kate's Friendship.
JULY 20 -- The Website has been updated and now we offer items to you at a DISCOUNT. Place our order by 8 AM Monday (CDT)and your order leaves our shipping department by Wednesday, and possibly sooner! The discount is calculated at the time we process your order.
JUNE 6 -- Now, we have a photo of the 1-day workshop that Tony Minieri will be teaching in Cedar Rapids on July 25, 2006. The CEDAR RAPIDS PATCH has a Czech influence and is wonderful. Tony recently returned from Prauge and this inspired the design. We'd love to have you join us--let us know at your earliest convenience.
APRIL 28 -- Tony Minieri's three-day class design FROM MAINE TO CALIFORNIA is being taught in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, July 26, 27 and 28, 2006. This is a companion piece to the design he taught here last summer. There are three color ways from which to select, or if you wish to develop your own color scheme, you need to select an overdyed silk for the base color and select three color families from the overdyed silk to use in the design.

MARCH 21 -- We are having a MODEL SALE of many of our stitched shop models and some quilts. This Silent Auction begins Sunday, May 7, and closes Saturday, May 20. We should have something for everyone.
FEBRUARY 27 -- A sure to be very popular kit from HEART IN HAND is Red Roses and it could be stitched so quickly.
FEBRUARY 25 -- The second in the Be-Attitude series from SHEPHERDS BUSH is Be True and a new release in the Occasional Musings series is Eggs. Both are quick to stitch and "oh so cute." Enjoy!
FEBRUARY 24 -- We have no picture of the Sampler Threads to direct you to, but we are offering the new colors: Apple Cider, Cinders, Dungarees, Mountain Mist, and Raven.
FEBRUARY 22 -- We all love Limited Editions kits. HEART IN HAND has created Spring Fling available through March 31, 2006. The kit includes fabric, hand dyed threads, sterling silver charm, needle and chart. Plus the frame is also limited and available only through the 31st.
FEBRUARY 21 -- Again, LIZZIE KATE makes a hit with these delightful designs for punch needle, Spring and Summer. Want to get started? Just stop by and I will be happy to demo for you.
FEBRUARY 20 -- Do we ever tire of a PRAIRIE SCHOOLER design--we just love their look. Four new releases include Birdsong I, Birdsong II, Country Wise, and Home Words.
FEBRUARY 19 -- CEDAR HILL continues to release their lovely floral samplers Country Iris and Flowers From The Meadow. At market, some of these samplers were stitched over one--and I heard Sharon say she was not going to stitch any further on her current one. She will start over and stitch over one! I, too, will be stitching the next one over one.
FEBRUARY 18 -- The second in the Limited Edition Fairy Holiday Collection by MIRABILIA DESIGNS is The Easter Fairy. Everything for stitching is included (even the needle). Crescent Colours are used for stitching--we love the life they give to a design.
FEBRUARY 9 -- The MIRABILIA DESIGNS is breathtaking--The Stargazer. White glowing stars reflect over a gown of satin ribbons and brocade. The dress is stitched in soft greys and dusty blues and covered in swirling starry beads.

NOVEMBER 15 -- This chart by SAM SARAH DESIGNS Light The Way Home was designed as a holiday piece. While the designer was stitching and watching the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, she realized that this applied to the areas affected as well as to our troops in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Here's hoping everyone finds their way home soon this season!

Profits from Home Is Where Our Story Begins are being donated to relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The little seaside house is surrounded by peaceful birds and sits safely above the water.

Those submitting their designs to this issue are current favorite designers, plus lots of new designers. We have called those stitchers who reserved the magazine. AUGUST 25 -- Tony Minieri's Stars For The Millennium is a canvas project. And, at the shop we will gather on the 1st Saturday of every month beginning Saturday, October 1, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM to stitch this design. This is a "Block of the Month" program.
AUGUST 24 -- We're excited about the EWE & EYE & FRIENDS 2006 Cross Stitch Calendar that will be available in September. Each month has a different design, a designer paper mat, and fabric. When you're in the shop, take a look at the actual calendar.
AUGUST 23 -- For the canvas workers, we have added Daphne by SHENANDOAH STITCHERY DESIGNS which is available in five colorways.
AUGUST 22 -- From the HEART IN HAND Wool Whimsy series, we have August. Everything is included in this kit. Stop and see how the shop model is progressing--we're stitching everything on one piece of fabric.

MAY 15 -- The Stitching Festival in Davenport is over, and what a great time was had by all. We saw so many familiar faces, met so many new stitchers, plus enjoyed the company of the great cross stitch designers! I've posted the latest design from RAISE THE ROOF Sam's Socks, Shorts-n-Such and had the opportunity to meet these two terrific designers, Theresa and Susan.

MAY 3 -- We're added a number of PUNCH NEEDLE DESIGNS. If you haven't tried this new technique, you're missing out on lots of fun and some quick satisfaction. The charts come with fabric that has a stamped design. Punch needles are also available. So, just go to CHARTS and click on "Punch Needle."

APRIL 29 -- More hearts from CROSS EYED CRICKET. These colorful hearts will look adorable on the wrought iron tree that they have used for many of their other designs. Titles of these leaflets are Works of the Heart I and Works of the Heart II.
APRIL 27 -- We've received patriotic designs from BLACKBIRD DESIGNS, Grand Old Flag, and Union Forever. The great thing with the patriotic stitchery is that you can begin displaying from Memorial Day throughout the summer for Flag Day, July 4th, or year round!
APRIL 25 -- Two designs from HEART IN HAND, April Wool Whimsy, and Pocket Sampler: Dad have just been posted.
APRIL 23 -- We are kicking off a STITCHERS SURPRISE! stitching program for 2005, and the 12-month program begins with May.
Every month you will receive a fun package complete with specialty threads, fabric (choice of 28 count linen or 14 count Aida), embellishment, pattern, and needle.
If you are out of the area, we will send a stitching goodie to your door every month.

APRIL 22 -- We just love SHEPHERD'S BUSH My Heart's Garden, and so have you! They went out as quickly as they came. And, we have more on order.
We have 2 new sizes of TAPESTRY NEEDLES to tempt you--size 23 and 25--in-between sizes called "Tapestry Tweens". The size 23 has the eye size of a 22 and the body of a 24 needle; the size 25 features the eye of a 24 and the body size of a 26 needle. Think how much nicer they will be to thread, but they will still slip through your fabric with ease. They work especially well for the heavier metallic threads and the Rainbow Gallery threads.
APRIL 19 -- Keeping in the spring gardening theme is SHEPHERDS BUSH newest kit, My Heart's Garden. The kit includes several yummy overdyed and solid silk threads, a darling heart embellishment and linen. Jill's mat enchances this lovely stitchery. The new DMC linen embroidery floss is now available in an assortment of 12 subtle colors, and included are DMC's 10 exclusive designs with this thread collection. The threads are lovely and so soft!

APRIL 14 - An e-mail newsletter was sent today; if you'd like to start receiving them, just go to the top of this page and sign up. Added to the site today is the most recent MIRABILIA DESIGN, Enchanted Mermaid, a striking sea nymph that comes alive with metallic threads, beads, and treasures. APRIL 9 -- The project for the upcoming CHESSIE & ME workshop presented by designer, Linda Lautenschlager, is now online. APRIL 5 -- Just received the latest Loose Feather design from Blackbird Designs, Spring Fling. Spring truly is here. The rest of Blackbird's designs have been added so just click on these titles to view them--Fond Hearts, Fair Daffodil, Live Each Season, Something Sweet. So difficult to decide which one to start stitching.
APRIL 3 -- Need some stitching gratification? Select from any of these four kits from SHEPHERDS BUSH which I really think you can finish in two hours. A lovely friendship design, True Friend will delight that special person. Grow Love has a gardening theme and includes a shovel charm. And, Sweet Pea is simply delightful as are the mat and frame! MARCH 7 -- On March 1, I reached a milestone with The Needle Case--15 years of business. In honor of this, we had an Anniversary Bash on Saturday, March 5. There were in-store drawings while people shopped and the winners are: Sally Rowley (Cedar Rapids), Marge Everett (Cedar Rapids), Paula Becker (Urbandale), Dorothy Miller (Marion), Sue Smith (Cedar Rapids), and Solveig Walstrom (Cedar Rapids). The winner of the $50 Gift Certificate is Carrie Trussel (Cedar Rapids). And, the winner of the Chest Full of Treasures ($350 value) is Nancy Fessenmeyer (Coralville). FEBRUARY 5 -- Yes, more Valentines. I'm ready to stitch these right now as they are so wonderful. Take a look at BLACKBIRD DESIGNS and look at "My Valentine" and "A Valentine Message." We love these designers' color selections. They're absolutely the best! Plus, Blackbird Designs has released the newest Loose Feathers design, "Sweetheart Sampler."

JANUARY 6 -- Valentines have arrived; two charts and one kit from HEART IN HAND. They are so quick to stitch. YES, they can be done in time for Valentine's Day to give to that special individual. Look for them in the Kits and Charts section of Heart in Hand.
JANUARY 3 -- Wasn't the timing for LORRI BIRMINGHAM'S Pansy Stump Work Needle Case and Scissor Fob fantastic on a sunless, icy, sleet-driven day in Iowa??!! Warm spring days will follow, but in the meantime this is the best project to get absorbed in while learning a new technique. Hopefully, many of you made resolutions for 2005--might one of those be to expand your needlework horizons? The directions are so well written that a beginner can jump right in and start these lovely projects.

DECEMBER 17 -- BENT CREEK new arrivals include another "row" chart, Valentine Row, and two kits that will be very quick to stitch--Got Carrot? (a Zipper) and Be Mine Stoneware Wishes.
In 2005, we will celebrate our 15TH ANNIVERSARY of business. Special plans have been made for celebrating each and every month! We are bringing Linda Lautenschlager of CHESSIE & ME for workshops in cross stitch and wool in April. In May, we'll have a PUNCHNEEDLE workshop by one of the best new artists, Charlotte Dudney. Then, in June, a well-known canvas instructor, TONY MINIERI, will return to teach a number of canvas classes. We'd love for you to join us in these classes. DECEMBER 16 -- You're going to love the LIZZIE KATE Flip-It Stamps. This is a monthly series that is stitched on 28 count linen and finishes approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". They are stitched with the fun, over-dyed threads. Each monthly chart has a LK stamp. Just collect all 12 stamps and you will receive an exclusive LK design free! There's even a LK Stamp Collector card on which to attach each stamp.

Every month a new premade ready-to-stitch sham is available that slips over an 8" x 10" Sandcastle pillow form. This pillow form can be used for the next month's design. The kit includes a premade sham (10 count Natural Heatherfield), chart, floss, and needle. Want something to magically appear in your mail box each month? NOVEMBER 21 -- Needing just the right recipe for a quick dessert for Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving just cannot get any easier, and especially if you are fond of pineapple.
2-MINUTE HAWAIIAN PIE
1 - 5.1 oz. package instant vanilla pudding and pie filling
1 - 20 oz. can crushed pineapple in heavy syrup, undrained
1 - 8 oz. container of sour cream
1 - 9" graham cracker pie crust
In a large bowl, combine pudding, pineapple, sour cream; stir until well blended. Pour mixture into crust. Cover and chill 2 hours before serving.
NOVEMBER 20 -- Four Christmas/Winter designs arrived from EWE & EYE & FRIENDS. Titles include: Christmas Packages, Christmas Basket, Christmas Spot Sampler, and The Big Guy. Just go to CHARTS and click on Ewe & Eye & Friends. Barb and Kam's color usage is wonderful!
The Needle Case will be closing at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 24, and closed Thursday, November 25. We will be reopening at 10 AM on Friday, November 26. Enjoy family time!
NOVEMBER 19 -- DECEMBER'S Stitchers Surprise kits are available now. Each month we're offering a new, quick cross stitch design (4" x 7" finished). Fabric is 18 count linen--so for aida stitchers--it's a perfect way to begin stitching on linen. The threads are all specialty threads; they make stitching really FUN. The fabric, specialty threads, and embellishments are $14.95 every month. Go to the CHARTS page and click on Erica Michaels to see December. One year from their release date, each Loose Feathers Club pattern is retired. We offer the pattern at $8.00 and the fabric price varies from $6.50 to $8.00. We inform you of the WDW or Sampler Threads that are used in every design. Patterns become available every other month. Just e-mail us if you would like to join--there is no club fee.
